From its prime location bordering Botswana, the camp offers breathtaking views that extend all the way to the Makgadikgadi salt pans, providing a glimpse into the captivating Kalahari ecosystem. A unique feature of this area are the springs and seeps that provide water for wildlife throughout the dry season.
The camp is a collaboration between co-owners Mike Thorne and renowned safari guide Ian Batchelor, who have teamed up to create an exhilarating and ever-evolving experience for guests. Together, they manage the day-to-day operations of Daka Plains Camp and its unique private concession. The end goal being the creation of ‘the go to’ camp experience in Hwange.

My stay at Daka Plains was a wonderful experience. It is a very comfortable lodge with the most outstanding service. The staff was incredible -- every member of the staff ensured you had a wonderful stay. Jeremy was a great host and made sure we felt welcomed throughout our entire vist. The food was the best that we had on our journey - it was wonderful!
Waking up to the sunrise by the fire pit in the mornings will remain one of my favorite memories of my trip to Zimbabwe. Coffee was brought early to our porch each morning, allowing for time to see the sunrise.
The peacefulness there was amazing, and the animal sightings were great. One morning we were able to watch from the deck two lionesses and their cubs down the vlei.
I look forward to returning to Daka Plains, and hope to next year. I highly recommend staying there.

Presented with a refreshing and tasty arrival drink and fresh face towel. A totally "Out of Africa" camp. Everything about it was fabulous. Game drives superb - plenty of Lion and Elephant as well as plains game. So many different birds.
Our stay was too short we will have to go back. Highly recommended camp to take you to another world.
The setting is stunning, with gorgeous views and great opportunities for watching wildlife in the natural environment.
The camp is heavenly! The individual camp rooms are very attractive and comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped to feel very homey. The main camp is delightful for relaxing between game drives, with beautiful views and charming seating areas. The meals were delicious, and the chef very thoughtfully made variations to accommodate for allergies of one of our family members.
Our morning and afternoon game drives were so much fun. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and we learned so much about the interesting behaviors and interactions of the animal communities, giving us the best understanding of all that we were seeing.
From the moment we arrived, the entire staff made is feel like family. Everyone was so friendly, and their thoughtful care and attention made us feel very at home there. Ian and Nonnie Batchelor have created a very special environment!
I highly recommend including a stay at Daka for anyone visiting Zimbabwe.

Daka Plains is a must for you.
I recently spent 4 nights at Daka Plains under the care of Ian , Nonnie and Lian Batchelor. The Camp is in Hwange , Zimbabwe and is a well appointed , unfenced camp close to the Botswana border with no Game Reserve boundary fences either.
Due to it's location in Zimbabwe but close to it's neighbouring Countries - truely wild animals freely traverse through this unspoilt wilderness area , they are not habituated to humans like many of the places we have visited before.
The rooms were very nicely appointed - the highlight for our family was service of the Camp's staff - the central area with a bar, lounge, outdoor deck with a plunge pool , indoor and outdoor dining areas and an exquisite extended firepit deck that had views as far as the eye could see.
Having travelled extensively in Southern Africa for 25 plus years, this particular trip will always remain a special memory for me , a wild part of Africa, still unspoilt with the luxurious touches of The Daka Plains Camp blended into it's rugged landscape , the careful attention given to it's guests by the staff , the attention to detail , delicious meals served 3 times a day and gin and tonics on tap made this a trio of a life time.
